Challenge
Moving from customised products to a platform model
In order to increase efficiency and reduce operational cost, Vitaccess was attempting to move to a platform model. It took weeks to setup a new project or client and accessibility compliance was an afterthought and required changes at project-level, and this a big issue for a product mostly used by people who were temporarily or permanently impaired. As the company was increasing its sales effort, the current state was unsustainable.
Goal
Project/client configuration to take hours instead of weeks and WCAG AA compliant by default
Our overarching objective was to architect a comprehensive branding strategy that not only set Vision Studio apart from the crowd but also fortified their brand identity and fostered profound connections with their target demographic.
Solution
Consistency of experience and standards
After exploring the problem space, the constraints and the company's strategy, we agreed that we would get the most value and impact, and move much closer to the goal, by improving the structure, quality, clarity of the patterns, components and the design system as a whole. I then worked with the team to rebuild the Figma/Storybook based design system, with a focus on usability and accessibility.
Result
Increased successful sales pitch by 60% through client's on-brand demo
Instead of an entire product team working for a couple of weeks only to onboard a new client, it now takes an account manager just a day. This also meant that they could easily demo the platform during their sales pitch and show prospects what their project could look like. In addition, they were able to take on more niche projects that required a more inclusive and accessible user interface.
